Learn About Researching at the Museum

    Past Worker List Database

The museum’s collections include a list of people who worked at one or more of the Herschel-associated companies in the past.  The list contains name, spouse (when known), residence addresses, and associations with the various Herschell companies.  The list has been assembled over the years (initially by Doug Bathke) from archival content, newspaper articles and an extensive search of many western New York city directories from the early part of the twentieth century (performed by William Clark).

The link below enables you to perform a search through that list to discover more about an individual who helped build this industry in years past.  We suggest you use “Advanced Search” to locate workers.

We need your help to ensure that the list continues to grow, honoring all the workers over the years.  In addition to searching, you will be able to send us additions and corrections to the list of workers, and you will be able to forward information about a worker to family and friends via email.
